Will we continue wearing and buying jewelry?

Will we continue wearing and buying jewelry. We speak about the current situation

Since March, we live in a weird time.  We stay at home, self-isolating and self-distancing.    People don’t go to the office.  All events have been cancelled.  Moreover, we don’t know when they will re-start.  In a few months? In a year?  Restaurants, theaters, museums don’t work.  To make it short, we don’t have events and places where we used to being nicely dressed.  So, what are we having at present?  Staying at home and spending days in T-shirts or, even, worse, in pijamas? Thus, a logic question arises:  “Will we continue wearing and buying jewelry?”  Will we continue  appreciating beauty and fashion?

Actually, this is the biggest concern of all designers and jewellers today.  Of course, no one can predict what life we will have shortly.  But, we are imagining and worrying.

However, not all people staying at home wear pijamas.  A lot of people work from home.  Particularly, it concerns the corporate world or business owners.  They continue doing the same that they have used to do working in the office.  They still communicate with their clients.  Probably, today, they have to do this more often.  They have meetings with the colleagues and the management to discuss the projects, the strategy etc.  But now we do this online.  Often, we use Zoom or other platform to take part in these meetings.  And, if you remember, you can see the participants of the meeting.  And they do see you as well.

Indeed, you are not willing to look sloppy or underdressed.  So, working from home, we get dressed as if we work in the office.  Probably, we will not wear an elegant suit.  But, nevertheless, we get dressed properly.  Of course, we are willing to create a good impression.

Even more than this.  After staying at home during all these month, we, women, would love to put on something nice and to feel attractive, beautiful and unique.

By the way, on the weekend, I went to the Atwater market.  A lot of people came there.   Presumably, people feel so happy to get out and to return to habits what they used to have.  I mean going to a market, sitting in a cafe with a cup of coffee and a croissant, shopping for plants…

And do you know what I have noticed there?  I saw a lot women very well dressed.  They put on their nice outfits and they were wearing jewelry! Including pearl jewelry.  Life goes on!

Jewelry today

This shows that we are craving for beauty, fashion and nice things.  Our inherent and natural desire consists in adorning ourselves and our homes.   So, women will put on their nice clothing and jewelry even staying at home.

Someone has mentioned that , at present, women will look through their jewelry box to find jewelry that they might wear.  Instead of investing in new jewelry.  Yes and no.  Of course, they may find some interesting piece of jewelry that they have been neglecting.  It may be a classic piece of jewelry.  Or a vintage one.  You may discover a beautiful piece of jewelry and you will gladly start wearing it.

However, time goes fast, and new trends, materials and designs are on.  So, if you are stylish and trendy, you prefer  wearing jewelry that will match your outfit, your personality as well as the current trends.

Moreover,  people start returning to work outside their homes.  Naturally, after the confinement at home, women would want to look their best.  For sure, they will put on a nice outfit and jewelry.

On the other hand, women may just spoil themselves buying a new piece of jewelry.  After being “ immured”  at home and lacking any social life, she may indulge herself buying a new jewelry piece.

What about jewelry gifts?

Finally, we should not forget about men who buy gifts for their loved ones.  Still, we have to celebrate many events where we have a habit of giving memorable and meaningful gifts.  Starting from graduation to weddings and  birthdays … No one has cancelled these events.  We will have them although, most probably, people will organize them differently.

In short, my point is that, as life goes on, people will continue wearing and buying jewelry.
