Designer pearl jewelry amethyst as a colored accent has been popular for ages.  Amethyst, a beautiful gemstone  is a traditional gemstone of February.  Amethyst’s color may vary from light pinkish violet to deep purple  This lovely stone has been prized for centuries.  It was known even in ancient times.  We, at Jewelry Olga, often use gemstones as colorful accents for our designer pearls jewelry.  Actually, amethyst is one of our favorite gems.

Amethyst has been particularly popular in old days.  People considered it as one of the most important precious gemstones along with sapphires and rubies.   Anglican bishops often worn Episcopal rings set with amethyst.  Because royal purple was symbolizing the Christ.     Actually, it is said that Saint Valentine was wearing a ring set with an antique amethyst cameo with a carved image of Cupid.  As well, the Greeks believed that amethyst could protect against drunkenness.

Amethyst is famous for its color.  The most valuable color is saturated purple with a bit of red, so-called “Siberian”.  Amethysts with Siberian color are found in Siberia, Sri Lanka, and Brazil.   However, even amethyst of lighter colors, including light pinkish violet or pale lilac called “Rose of France” may look beautiful.

Jewelry Olga specializes in designer pearl jewelry.  So, we use pearls as basic and favorite material.  At the same time, we often mix pearls with various gemstones.  This gives a unique and alluring look to our jewelry.   Nice gemstones compliment nice pearls.  Amethyst with its gorgeous purple color and its variations is one of our choices.  We use it a lot in necklaces and earrings.  A combination of white pearls and purple amethyst is no-brainer.  On the other hand, it is fun to mix purple of amethyst with other colored gemstones.  For instance, we may choose green peridot or blue-violet tanzanite to get a stunning piece of jewelry.

Black spinel choker

We have created a pearl choker necklace using sparkling black spinel.  For this designer pearl jewelry, we add big beautiful amethyst faceted beads and lavender pearls as accents.  Spinel, including black spinel is one of the underestimated gemstones.  With its wonderful sparkle, black spinel resembles expensive black diamonds.  In the choker, we play with black, purple and gold-tone colors.  As a result, we create a gorgeous piece of designer pearl jewelry.  Actually, colored pearls are always popular.  They look lovely.  At the same time, a woman may already possess white pearl jewelry.  Thus, she may try wearing pearls of other colors.  Particularly,  if she wants to have a diverse pearl wardrobe.

Are you are crazy for the purple color?  Do you like amethysts?  Then,  you may also consider wearing designer pearl jewelry having amethysts embedded in its pattern.
